From a Danish cellar to a global pump leader.

Grundfos was founded in 1945 by Poul Due Jensen in Bjerringbro, Denmark. Over eight decades, it has grown from a one-man machine shop into the largest pump manufacturer in the world.

1953Company renamed 'Bjerringbro Pumpefabrik' (Bjerringbro Pump Factory).
1955The iconic Archimedes water-screw logo is introduced.
1967Renamed 'Grundfoss', originally a product name used by the company.
1968Name shortened to 'Grundfos' by dropping one 's'.
1975The Poul Due Jensen Foundation is established as a self-governing institution.
1985Grundfos starts its own electronics production.
1991Grundfos Electronics inaugurated, including a clean-room hybrid factory.
1995Grundfos Technology Centre opens for advanced R&D.
2005Acquires Alldos, a German dosing-pump manufacturer.
2006Acquires Hilge, hygienic pump maker (later divested to GEA in 2015).
2007Acquires US-based Peerless Pump Company.
2020Completes acquisition of EUROWATER (SILHORKO in Denmark).
2021Acquires US water-technology company MECO.
2023Acquires UK-based Metasphere.

Ownership structure

Since 1975, the Poul Due Jensen Foundation has owned the majority of Grundfos. Today the foundation holds about 86% of shares in Grundfos Holding A/S, the founder's family holds about 12%, and employees hold roughly 2%. Profits are reinvested in the Grundfos Group. Flemming Konradsen serves as the foundation's chairman.
